History and Background of
The Cathedral Church
of Saint John
Saint John's has been a cornerstone of
Wilmington's Brandywine Village
neighborhood since 1857.
In 1935, Saint John's Church accepted the invitation
of the Diocese to become the Mother Church of the Diocese and the seat
of the Bishop of Delaware.
The majestic Brandywine stone buildings and beautiful
close of the Cathedral Church of Saint John represent the highest example
of cathedral tradition.
