About Our Church
Because
the Bishop of Delaware makes
our church his official seat, our church is called a cathedral. Our elegant,
visually-rich architecture makes us look like a cathedral. But
we are also a church, a diverse congregation
of Christians who worship together in community,
with outreach programs designed
to connect to the wider community around us. One of these programs is
the Cathedral
Choir School of Delaware.
Vision Statement
As the Cathedral Church of Saint John, we
believe that God is calling us
- To be a welcoming and supportive community to
our diverse congregation
- To nurture children, youth, and adults in our
congregation and urban neighborhood
- To be personal Disciples of Christ and
public
witnesses of the Gospel
- And to be a resource to the clergy and people
of the Diocese of Delaware
Location
The Cathedral Church of Saint John is located in
historic Brandywine Village just across the Brandywine River from downtown
Wilmington at the corner of Concord and Philadelphia Pikes. Here
are some maps. The Cathedral is easily accessible from I-95
(Concord Pike South exit) or Route 202 at Market Street. Ample free parking
and security are available at the Cathedral. Please join us.
